APRIL FOOLS ON US!

Hello! It’s been an interesting few days for us!
We got in late Friday night/early sat. morning around 1am. Unfortunately I (Renae’) was slammed with food poisoning all of the way home from Dallas, TX. on our way back to Nashville, TN. I don’t think that I’ve ever been so sick in my life! Nothing worse than being sick moving bus. We stopped a lot and even our radio rep. Adrian was feeling a little under the weather. Thank goodness Becky, Debbie and Trenna were there to nurse me all the way home with Imodium, Gatorade, water, cold compress and oh yea., a large garbage bag to get sick in. Kudos to Donnie, our bus driver for taking care of me too!
So we made it home! I was slung out in bed all day Saturday, through Saturday night into Sunday up until we had to leave Sunday afternoon (aside from having to do my laundry for the road). Trenna went rollerblading Saturday and totally wiped out, scraping up her arm pretty badly. So it’s been interesting!
Sunday it was time for us to take our nice 1 way, non-stop flight to Detroit to meet our bus, get in a good dinner, a good nights rest and be ready and rested up for our first Midwest radio visit at 8am…., WRONG!!!
It all started to hit the fan when Trenna had gotten on line earlier in the day (2:30pm) with Northwest to put in her World Perks numbers and lo and behold, our flight had been cancelled! No notification, nothing! We had been scheduled to fly out at 5:15pm. Needless to say, she flipped out and was immediately on the phone racing to find us alternative flights out of Nashville to Detroit. No more flights could be found that went from Nashville to Detroit until the next day. She went around and around making phone calls trying to get us flights. Finally, she managed to get us alternative flights from Northwest to Delta, leaving Nashville, jetting us down to Atlanta, GA. first then up to Toledo, OH. (an hour out from Detroit, no flights left from Atlanta to Detroit until the next day either) and end up meeting the bus there.
So we were off to the airport. We checked our bags and rushed to our gate to our Atlanta bound flight after an in depth security search and wanding on each of us for having last minute, one-way plane flights. I, of course couldn’t help but to make a scene out of my search, sheepishly bending over as the TSA man approached putting on his rubber gloves…, to search my bag of course.
Our plane ended up being delayed and when it did finally get moving, we realized that we were going to be seriously slamming it to make it to our next flight from Atlanta to Toledo. The plane finally landed, it was the longest descent I think we’d ever been on due to the rain that was coming down and the wind in Atlanta. We rushed off the plane, with the next flight scheduled to leave NOW! We ran, and ran, up escalators, caught a train, then we ran some more, finally making it to the gate only to see the closed sign up overhead. We begged and pleaded the lady to let us on and she did (thanks nice lady)! We were all set., well at least we thought.
We landed in Toledo, OH. A few hours later only to find out that our luggage did not make the flight. We stood at the (some airline, we will not say which) ticket/baggage counter along with several other people for about 30 minutes waiting for a baggage representative to come out to start filing the various reports of missing luggage. We hoped that it would be on the next flight first thing in the morning, then get shipped to our hotel in Detroit prior to us having to leave from there. We boarded our bus, no luggage, but lost bag claim tickets and little personal “Necessity Bags” given to us by the airline to take as souvenirs of our wondrous adventure that we’d just completed.
We arrived at our hotel by 1:30 am and set every alarm we could so we could make sure that we’d be up by 6am, enough time to get ready and make bus call by 7:30am. No luggage. Whoohoo!! : ) What an APRIL FOOLS DAY we had!
